The 2016 CARLI Annual Meeting will be held on Friday, November 18 at the I-Hotel Conference Center in Champaign. Staff at any CARLI member library is invited to attend.

Over the course of the summer, there have been several 500-year floods in Louisiana, record fires in California, and extreme heat all over the East Coast that led to power outages in New York City. Hurricane season is here as well as the standard Midwestern woes of spring tornados. The number and kinds of disaster that can hit any institution are legion. So, libraries all need to be ready to care for their collections in the event of a disaster.
The image of the lone artist toiling away at his or her masterpiece is a persistent one. But, especially in the case of large scale public sculpture, it often takes a village to bring a work of art to life.

Susan Singleton, CARLI's first Executive Director following the formation of the consortium in 2005, retires on July 29. "It has been an honor to work with the staff and directors of the academic libraries in the state and with the CARLI staff throughout this first decade of CARLI’s existence.” said Singleton. "I have no doubt that new director Anne Craig, the Board of Directors, and the CARLI staff working with the truly outstanding CARLI community, will ensure a smooth transition for CARLI's future."
The John Jochman Album is a delightful collection of candid and formal photos of Benedictine monks and students from St. Procopius Academy and St. Procopius College taken during the early part of the 20th century.
CARLI Digital Collections contain more than the images, and sometimes texts, usually featured in this space. Several collections include digitized audio and video resources. Let’s look at (or listen to) one of them….
We are very happy to announce that Anne Craig will join CARLI as Senior Director beginning in early July. Anne is currently Director of the Illinois State Library, a position she has held since 2005. Anne will be replacing Susan Singleton who will retire at the end of July.
