The 2021 CARLI Annual Meeting will be held on Wednesday, November 10, at 10 a.m., via Zoom. Staff at any CARLI member library is invited to attend.
The 2021 CARLI Annual Governing Directors Meeting will be held on Thursday, November 4, at 10 a.m., via Zoom.

What is the task?: When an item expires on your library’s hold shelf, or, the requesting patron states they no longer want an item they had requested before it expires, library staff must follow the transit workflow in Alma to return the item to its owning library.

CARLI is pleased to announce three recipients of the 2021 CARLI Scholarship: Jacqueline Mann, Loyola University Chicago; Abigail Mastin, University of St. Francis; and Kate Swope, Northern Illinois University. The CARLI Scholarship, awarded for the first time in 2020, provides financial assistance to current employees of CARLI Governing Member Libraries pursuing graduate studies leading to a Master’s degree in Library and Information Science at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Each recipient will receive a $1,000 CARLI Scholarship for the 2021-2022 academic year.
As a result of shutdowns related to COVID-19, The Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) has granted CARLI a one-year, no-cost extension to the CARLI Counts award. This extension means that CARLI can offer an additional cohort (the program was originally slated to include two cohorts). Cohort 3 will meet exclusively via Zoom, with team presentations at the 2022 CARLI Annual Meeting (tentatively planned as an in-person event).
The University of Illinois System/CARLI has been awarded a 3-year $1.08 million from the U.S. Department of Education's Open Textbooks Pilot Program – a competitive grant program based on US Senate Majority Whip and Illinois Senator Richard Durbin's Affordable College Textbook Act The grant will fund Illinois SCOERs (Support for Creation of Open Educational Resources), a program that will provide access to open textbooks and personalized learning tools for entry-level courses in high-demand health care and human development career paths.
The election and appointment process for new members of the CARLI Board of Directors is now complete.
Directors elected to 3-year terms are: Rebecca Donald (Trinity International University), Dallas Long (Illinois State University), and Shannon Pohrte (Elgin Community College).
Directors appointed to one-year terms are: Marianne Ryan (Loyola University), Sharon Silverman (City Colleges of Chicago), and John Pollitz (Southern Illinois University).
