On Tuesday, October 25, 2022 at 5:30pm, some CARLI services experienced an unexpected service interruption for approximately 10 minutes. Services affected included the CARLI website, the ILDS website, the CARLI Selection System, CARLI’s Explore More Illinois authentication service, and CARLI’s ticket tracking system.
CARLI’s Technical Services Committee has identified a need to provide increased opportunities for cataloging training that meets different levels of staff and combines expert training with discussion. OCLC’s existing nine-module Connexion client training is a recognized source of quality training. The Committee will supplement these training modules with live discussion sessions in the Collection Client Training Q&A Series, giving those that view the training modules a venue to answer questions they may have about content covered in each module.
Please join us for the 2022 CARLI Annual Meeting to be held Friday, November 4 at the I Hotel and Conference Center in Champaign. We are excited about our keynote speaker, Victor Jones Jr.. Victor Jones Jr. (he/him/his) serves as the Director of DEIA for the University Library at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where he provides leadership and advocacy within the Library to promote a workplace culture that supports all aspects of diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility. Prior to this role, Jones worked as a graduate recruiter for the iSchool at Illinois, where he built pipelines and created programming to diversify BIPOC student access to the information professions. The afternoon will feature table talks to gather input about the CARLI Strategic Plan. Staff at all CARLI member libraries are encouraged to attend. Please join CARLI in welcoming staff members, Martin Kong and Marisa Tolbert, who joined us in August. Martin, coming to us from Chicago State University is new to User Services and Marisa, from Lincoln College, is joining the E-Resources team.

Sessions are scheduled for every other week on Fridays at 2:00pm.
CARLI is pleased to announce that Brandi Castillo, Kankakee Community College; Abigail Johnson, Lake Forest College; and Nathan Thebarge, Trinity International University; have each received the $1,000 CARLI 2022–2023 Academic Year Scholarship.
The three recipients were selected based on their responses to a personal essay question regarding their professional goals and objectives in pursuing a library career that demonstrates a commitment to the profession, and the strength of their references.

CARLI is pleased to announce Round One awards for the "Illinois SCOERs: Support for the Creation of Open Educational Resources" Subgrants, funded by the Open Textbooks Pilot Grant received from the Fund for the Improvement of Post-Secondary Education (FIPSE) and the U.S. Department of Education.
The election and appointment process for the new members of the CARLI Board of Directors is now complete.
Directors elected to 3-year terms are: Stephanie Davis-Kahl (Illinois Wesleyan University), Dennis Krieb (Lewis and Clark Community College), and Pattie Piotrowski (University of Illinois Springfield)
Jo Cates from Columbia College Chicago will fill the vacancy left by Rebecca Donald for a two-year term starting July 1, 2022.
