Before there was Facebook, there were face books. Unlike yearbooks, comprehensive retrospectives published at the end of an academic year, these books were issued at the beginning of the year as a means of identifying students new to campus.
The 2015 CARLI Annual Meeting will be held Friday, November 13 at the Hilton Garden Inn in Champaign. Staff at any CARLI member library are invited to attend. The meeting, celebrating 35 years of I-Share and 10 years of CARLI, will feature a look back at the original vision for online academic library cooperation in Illinois and a discussion of this cooperation in the present context, an overview of CARLI in 2015, and a discussion about the future of academic libraries, and of CARLI over the next 5-10 years. Susan Singleton, CARLI Executive Director and Assistant Vice President for Academic Affairs, University of Illinois, will retire in July 2016. Singleton, who has held the position since January 2006, was the first Executive Director hired after CARLI was created from the merger of the Illinois Cooperative Collection Management Program (ICCMP), the Illinois Digital Academic Library (IDAL), and the Illinois Library Computer Systems Organization (ILCSO).
