Instructional Possibilities: CARLI Instruction’s theme for this year invites librarians to reflect on their praxis and explore ways to refresh their teaching.
We are excited for our first event of the year, which will focus on Culturally Responsive Teaching (CRT) and underrepresented students. How can librarians authentically connect with students whose identities are different from their own?How can librarians apply principles of CRT in the library one-shot in order to cultivate an inclusive library experience and empower learning for all students?
Join us for a virtual discussion of these questions. To facilitate the conversation, we will use “Teaching with Intent: Applying Culturally Responsive Teaching to Library Instruction” (Cowden et. al 2021). This article may be accessed at: https://scholarsarchive.library.albany.edu/ulib_fac_scholar/141/.
Participants are encouraged to read the article ahead of time, but all are welcome to join regardless. Through informal discussion we hope to provide an opportunity to reflect and learn from each other.
Please note that this event will not be recorded.
