NC LIVE Website Service

What is the NC LIVE Website Service?

Would you like a sleek, easy-to-update library website that meets the latest accessibility standards and works on any patron device, but haven't the time or expertise to design one? We've got you covered. Through a partnership with NC LIVE, North Carolina′s library consortium, CARLI is excited to offer an easy to implement, low-cost library website service to CARLI member libraries.

The NC LIVE Website Service is based on the popular library-focused Content Management System (CMS) called LibGuides. LibGuides uses a web-based template that offers an intuitive interface with a contemporary, customizable design.

How Much Does it Cost and What is Included?

There’s a one-time cost of $500 and you’ll receive:

  • A library homepage template.
  • One additional interior page template, which you can use for as many pages as you like.
  • A Best Practices and Implementation Guide
  • CARLI will create an account for you to access the web-based Onboarding Tool where you’ll be customizing the design and basic functionality of your new library website. This means unlimited access to the template(s) used in creating your website, so you can go back and make changes whenever you want without any restrictions or additional charges.

Technical Requirements

To make sure you meet the technical requirements, be sure you have the following:

  • A LibGuides v.2 account with administrative rights.
  • A hosted site (or access to your server).
  • Permissions to make changes to your website.

Implementation Timeline

Depending on the complexity of your website and whether you’ll also be migrating from another CMS platform, it usually takes anywhere from 2-6 months for your new LibGuides-based website to be up and running.

Troubleshooting and Support

You are responsible for the creation and maintenance of the website you create using the NC LIVE Website Service. The aforementioned “Best Practices & Implementation Guide” is quite thorough, but if you should need further assistance (during setup or post-implementation), please contact CARLI at and we’ll do our best to get you the help you need.
