PDA Event: Film Inspection and Handling 101

The University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign Library will be hosting a free webinar on film preservation on Tuesday, May 2, 2023, as part of our Preservation Week 2023 programming. Cristina Kühn, Media Preservation and Digital Reformatting Project Manager, will present her webinar twice, in both English and Spanish. This session will be presented in English.

Join UIUC’s Media Preservation program during Preservation Week 2023 for pro tips on film preservation fundamentals. Whether you have large or small collections, large or small budgets, this webinar will introduce participants to the basics of film inspection and handling. Participants will learn a film’s physical condition through the inspection process, discover a variety of film equipment, and basic conservation treatment.
