A series of programs highlighting the upcoming publications of Illinois SCOERs Round Two and Three awardees. The Illinois SCOERs awards are made possible because of a generous grant from the Fund for the Improvement of Post-Secondary Education (FIPSE) and the United States Department of Education's Open Textbook Pilot Program.

Open Pedagogy Workshop

  • Not currently scheduled. When offered, the CARLI OER Committee invites members to share with their teaching faculty this opportunity to learn more about Open Pedagogy. When you use open pedagogy in your classroom, you are inviting students to be part of the teaching process, participating in the co-creation of knowledge. In this online workshop, you will learn the definition and context of Open Pedagogy, view innovative examples being applied in a variety of subjects and formats, and work with other attendees to create an assignment that you can use in your own class.

Illinois Secretary of State/Illinois State Library OER Grant Program

CARLI offers OER Grants Office Hours to answer questions about the Illinois SCOERs and the Illinois State Library OER Grant programs. These are every Wednesday from 2:00 - 3:00 p.m., central time. All can be found on the CARLI calendar. No registration is required.

Illinois SCOERs

CARLI and the Illinois Support for the Creation of Open Educational Resources (SCOERs) team are pleased to announce a series of workshops related to the creation of OER. These workshops are designed to build expertise in our member libraries in the areas of Instructional Design, Accessibility, Copyright and Creative Commons, and 3D Printing. This training series is made possible through generous funding from FIPSE and the U.S. Department of Education.

These workshops are open to all CARLI Members and their faculty and staff. Recordings are available from the Illinois SCOERs Workshop page.

Open Texas 2024 (Virtual)

  • September 25-27, 2024 - This free virtual conference has the theme of "Global Horizons of Open Education: The View from Texas." Call for proposals is available. Proposals due June 28, 2024 by 11:59 p.m. CDT. Registration in not yet available.

Open Education Conference (Hybrid)

  • October 8-10, 2024 - The theme of the 2024 Open Education Conference is “It’s About Time.”  The in-person location is Providence, Rhode Island (USA). Earlybird virtual registration fee is $75 (after September 6, $100). Earlybird in-person registration fee is $450 (after August 9, $600). Registration is available.

SUNY OER Summit 2024 (Virtual)

  • October 16-17, 2024 - This free virtual event dedicated to sharing best practices and insights in the field of Open Educational Resources and Open Pedagogy. This summit aims to bring together practitioners from SUNY and beyond to explore innovative approaches, successful case studies, and emerging trends in OER. We welcome proposals from both SUNY and non-SUNY educators, researchers, students, administrators, librarians, and other stakeholders involved in OER. Call for proposals is available. Proposals due July 31, 2024. Registration is not yet available.

OPen for Student Success Symposium (Virtual)

  • March 7, 2025 - Free virtual symposium from Georgia State University Library has a theme of "Open Education: Fueling Equity in Learning." Call for proposals is available. Proposals by ALL faculty and staff working with Open Educational Resources (OER) at an institution of higher education. Proposals dues by October 25, 2024. Registration is not yet available.
