Decisions

• Minutes of May 15, 2024 approved with corrections.
• What Do We Do Now? Generative AI and the Academic Library's Role on Campus - decisions:
  • Survey results slides
    • Gretchen summarized the slides and group discussed revisions and made some updates and additions.
    • For slides which had images, CC licensing information was added to slide notes.
  • Speaker Guidelines
    • Jennifer will compile speaker slides. Charity will check with one speaker who has not provided slides yet.
    • Jennifer will control slides for speakers. Denise or Elizabeth will be a backup person to share slides in case of problems.
    • Jennifer will also be “timekeeper.”
    • Denise and Elizabeth will create a first slide and include housekeeping information in the notes for Jennifer.
  • Timeframe for program
    • Speakers will go in order listed in promotional messages.
    • Time management; 10 minutes introduction which includes the survey results (Jennifer and Gretchen); 10 minutes each for presentation (3), remaining time for Q&A; If discussion continues, we can keep the session going for an extra 15 minutes—speakers have agreed to allow that extra time at end of session.
  • Moderator & Chat Monitor
    • Jennifer will moderate.
    • Ashley will monitor chat questions.

• Denise and Elizabeth will email the continuing members about serving as chair or co-chair for FY25.

  • FY25 Access Collections (July 1, 2024 – June 30, 2025) for Consortial Ebooks:
    • Oxford University Press: Content published online from 2020 – March 2025 in subjects Biology, History, Law, Music, Political Science, Psychology, Religion, and Sociology.
    • University of Illinois Press: Content published online from 2015 – June 2025 in all subjects. UI Press content will be available via the JSTOR platform.
    • Wiley: Content published online 2020 – June 2025 in all subjects.
    • CARLI staff will add records to the Network Zone for I-Share members and share records via OCLC Collection Manager for non-I-Share members.
  • The Illinois State Library has negotiated databases access, which affects what CARLI is able to provide and will result in savings for CARLI Libraries. Denise has sent information via email to CARLI member libraries.

Discussion

• Committee discussed the June 24 program, “What Do We Do Now? Generative AI and the Academic Library's Role on Campus.”
  • As of the meeting time there were 95 registered.
  • Session will be recorded.
• Discussion of Chairs and membership for 2024-2025:
  • No one has volunteered; one member declined due to demands at work; Lesley is willing to be co-chair if someone else is interested in being chair/co-chair.
