The Library Services Coordinator within CARLI supports library computer systems and software serving the libraries of the members of the Consortium of Academic and Research Libraries of Illinois (CARLI). In support of l-Share, the CARLI Digital Collections and other CARLI services, CARLI's Library Services Coordinators work with CARLI's management and staff, as well as member library staff to plan and implement new services, to develop and present continuing education programs, to organize consortial meetings, and to coordinate system problem analysis and resolution.

Duties and Responsibilities
- Provides user services for CARLI member library staff using I-Share and other CARLI services. Serves as front line support for library software and systems that provide mission critical services in Illinois academic libraries. Develops and provides reports, instructional materials, and enhancements to customer service that are proactive, databased, and customer-focused.
- Participates in planning, testing and implementing library software enhancements, upgrades, and data migrations. Maintains awareness of current and emerging standards and technologies related to library management systems.
- Performs bibliographic data quality analysis and modification as needed to improve data quality and accessibility, and reduce duplication in the consortial union catalog.
- Prepares and presents continuing education programs for consortial member library staff on a variety of subjects related to the consortium's systems and projects.
- Prepares policy and procedure documents in consultation with colleagues and advisory groups. Writes and revises documentation and training materials. Assists in keeping the CARLI website, directory and records up to date.
- Serves as a communication liaison between CARLI staff, CARLI member library staff, and as appropriate, support staff of CARLI service vendors.
- Serves as a CARLI staff liaison to various CARLI committees. Arranges meetings, prepares background materials, advises committee members on consortial goals, procedures, plans and projects.
- Performs other duties appropriate for the position of Library Services Coordinator as determined by the Director of User Services.
Education:
Required: Bachelor's degree.
Preferred: Master's degree from an ALA-accredited library/information science program.
Experience:
Required: A total of one (1) year (12 months) in education, training and/or work experience in a position with responsibilities that include using and/or supporting online library systems and services. (Note: Master's Degree in an area consistent with the duties of the position may be substituted for one (1) year of work experience.)
Preferred:
- Minimum of three years of experience working in a position with responsibilities that include using and/or supporting online library systems and services.
- Minimum of one year of post-MLS experience in a library or library related organization.
- Experience in using and supporting the following systems: Ex Libris Alma and Primo VE platform, and OCLC's CONTENTdm digital object management system.
- Experience in technical services (acquisitions, cataloging, serials) in an academic library.
- Experience in providing access services/interlibrary loan services in an academic library environment.
- Experience in developing, scheduling, and presenting training programs for library staff.
- Experience in preparing library automation documentation.
- Experience in developing reports and statistics in an integrated library systems environment.
- Experience working in a consortial library resource sharing environment.
Knowledge and Experience
- Familiarity with Dublin Core and other metadata formats and standards.
- Thorough knowledge of the MARC formats, cataloging practices and bibliographic standards.
- Excellent oral and written interpersonal communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work well in a collaborative environment.
- Strong creative and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to travel in-state up to 5% of the time.
- Independent decision-making ability that reflects good judgment and discretion.
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize work assignments to produce accurate, detail-oriented work while meeting stringent deadlines.
- Strong computer skills including the ability to effectively use software packages such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Access.

This is a full-time Civil Service Program Coordinator position appointed on a 12 month service basis. The expected start date is as soon as possible after April 13, 2022. Salary is commensurate with experience.
