Guests: Justin Johnson (UI Purchasing), Cathy Link (State Purchasing Officer for University of Illinois).
The primary goal for the meeting was to review the progress with Justin Johnson and Cathy Link, and to address questions about the procurement process that had evolved over the previous 12 months. Questions involved scoring, pricing, and the timeline for the process once the Task Force delivers the RFP to Purchasing. Johnson and Link reported that the busy season for UI Purchasing is January-June, with April-June being the busiest time. If we can shoot for having the RFP into purchasing in Fall, we could see a turnaround less than a full year. At the end of the timeline, a contract can be formally executed after the University Board of Trustees approves the procurement.
