For the beginning of the meeting, the task force discussed the need to modify the timeline for the RFP. Factors included the scheduling of informational webinars on available products, the review by CARLI Systems Services of the consortial functionality of open source products, and the current status of functional specification development. The Task Force decided to move the time table back six months, with an RFP draft now due to the CARLI Board by September 2015.
Task force members continue to consider ways to equitably evaluate open source products with commercial products. This discussion provided a number of questions to be asked of representatives of the University of Chicago, who will speak on their OLE implementation at the next Task Force meeting.
In the afternoon, the Task Force developed specification concepts for the Union Catalog. The exercise should provide the basis for developing concepts in other specification areas. Teams of Task Force members agreed to draft concepts for the “Working” area before the next meeting. These concepts should be the ground work for teams that are called to write the specifications more fully.
