The CARLI Digital Preservation Trainers are holding a four-webinar series on digital preservation. The webinars will cover the six digital preservation “modules” created by the Library of Congress’ Department of Digital Preservation Outreach and Education (DPOE). This webinar will cover Storage and Protection of the digital items you wish to preserve. The sections will focus on the following:

Store:

  • Develop a better understanding of long-term storage requirements and possible options for meeting those requirements
  • Consider factors that organizations need to weigh in developing their long-term storage management policy and practice
  • Raise awareness about trends in storage management and ways to track those trends

Protect:

  • Define the concepts of protection and examine approaches that are used
  • Develop and understanding of the levels of protection digital content requires
  • Examine the roles and responsibilities involved in protecting digital content
  • Raise awareness about components of compliance with relevant requirements

Audience: Librarians and IT staff involved in acquiring and creating digital materials, and those who are beginning to think about acquiring digital materials.  No previous experience in digital preservation is needed.
