Decisions

• Minutes of the September 15, 2023, Board meeting were approved prior to the meeting.
• The Board endorsed the E-Resources Brokering Program Values document as amended. 
• The meeting was adjourned at 11:15 a.m.

Announcements

• The Board reviewed the results of the Directors Survey prepared for the Governing Directors Meeting in November and the comments from the Annual Meeting Table Talks. 
• CARLI is working on an agreement to utilize CARLI staff to assist the Illinois State Library in the administration of the state budget appropriation in support of Open Education Resources.
• CARLI is seeking grant funding to support the Building Diversity Graduate Assistantship Program for FY25.
• CARLI and the University of Illinois Press are working together to plan the event “Free People Read Freely: Literacy, Privacy, and Democracy,” a symposium to celebrate intellectual freedom. The event will be held August 20-21, 2024, at the I-Hotel in Champaign. Funding for the program is being provided by University of Illinois System Office.
• CARLI funded registrations for over 200 I-Share library staff to attend ELUNA Learns sessions.
• The migration process for the FY2024 cohort of new I-Share libraries continues. The FY24 cohort that includes Chicago Theological Seminary, City Colleges of Chicago, College of Lake County, Elgin Community College, and Prairie State College is expected to be live in Alma Primo VE in June 2024.
• Staff from CARLI and University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign are preparing for the pilot phase for the Shared Institutional Repository, which will begin January 1 and run through June 30, 2024.
• The E-Resources CY2024 Selection System closed with a 6% decrease in total spending. 
• CARLI is offering financial support for three librarians to participate in the OEN Certificate in Open Education Librarianship. The librarians are: Joe Kohlburn, Southern Illinois University Edwardsville; Shelly McDavid, Southern Illinois University Edwardsville; and Julie Murphy, Illinois State University. 
• CARLI will hold the New Directors’ Institute on May 22-23, 2024.

Tasks Assigned

• CARLI staff will analyze the Alma Named User Update Survey data and will submit a report and proposal to the Board for consideration at the March meeting.
• CARLI staff will prepare a proposal for implementing anonymization in Alma for the Board to consider at the March meeting.
