Announcements

  • Member Announcements:
    • Denise reported that Richard Stokes (University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign), member of the CARLI Public Services Committee, passed away.
    • Joanna Kolendo (Chicago State University) reported pipes burst in Library today, the first day of classes.  The collections were spared, but offices were affected.
  • CARLI Updates:
    • There will be a webinar on January 17th put on by the Open Educational Resources Task Force on getting started with Open Educational Resources.  
    • Many committees beginning to post their Spring semester events and webinars.  Please watch the calendar.

Discussion

  • Open House:
    • Sue Franzen confirmed that the University of St. Francis is interested and willing to host an Open House on either April 6 or 13. They can share their transition to a single service point that how they use the READ scale to escalate questions to Reference Librarians. The Committee preferred April 6.
    • Lunch at this open house location could come in house or from Panera. The group preference and CARLI’s preference was for Panera.
    • No second speaker for this open house has been identified yet.
  • Annual Project:
    • A Google Docs link has been established for the annual project at: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1ugd4Wgj_6hnwk41bvUUBQuaYjtBoYXNR?usp=sharing
    • Aaron hopes to post the articles he found that discuss single point of service next week.
    • Nester reported collecting 30 articles to share.
    • Sue reported that University of St. Francis will share the research they did before their shift to a single service point as well.

  • December minutes were approved.
