Announcements

• CARLI Update:
  • No budget CARLI
  • Anne Craig – Upcoming Listening Meeting with Directors/Deans
    • 9/18 at Olivet Nazarene
    • 9/25 at SIU - Edwardsville
• Member Announcements:
  • The eclipse event went well at SIUC.
  • Chicago State also did an eclipse event that went well.
  • There is a new acting Associate Dean at NIU.
  • Shari Zack is the Interim Dean at ISU.

Decisions

• The Committee approved September minutes after addition of ISU Interim Dean Shari Zeck to last month’s member announcements.
• The Committee will continue discussion of open houses at October meeting.
• The Committee will review its Annual Meeting report and presentation at October meeting.

Tasks Assigned

• Minutes taken by Sue Franzen.
• CARLI Annual Meeting Report & Presentation will be drafted by Sue & Anne-Marie to be shared at October meeting.
• Colleen will work with Denise and Elizabeth on an email to send to membership about hosting potential single service point open houses.

Discussion

• Annual Project
  • Reviewed discussion points from last meeting.
    • Denise gave update on two items.
      • Milikin interested in hosting open house
      • No library using new VuFind
  • Joanna expressed interest in collaborating with the instruction group.
    • Elizabeth mentioned no one has done an annual project with another group.
    • Sue suggested doing a smaller project collaboratively.
  • Joanna expressed interest in open houses in the western part of the state.
  • Joanna interested in more ideas about declining reference statistics.
    • Nestor suggested a project on collecting data on declining reference & circulation.
    • Possibly tie into Open House, especially at libraries with single service point, with speakers on alternative outreach (i.e. pop-up cart, etc.)
  • Group discussed possible locations for open houses with single service desks
    • Milikin
    • Illinois Central College
    • Heartland CC
  • Bring in additional speakers to open houses to discuss single service point or other alternative service models.
  • Nestor suggested a project on instruction assessment best practices.
• CARLI Annual Meeting Report & Presentation
  • Sue and Anne-Marie representing PS committee at CARLI Annual Meeting.
  • Denise and Elizabeth gave insight into presentation questions.
