Announcements
- Julia announced Elmhurst College’s Center for Professional Excellence is moving to the lower level of the library, so library staff had to move 30,000 bound periodicals in five weeks.
- Sue said Milner Library is seeing a great deal of physical changes between bathroom remodeling, 1st floor stacks moved to the 5th floor, and weeding in basement storage to prepare for plaza repair beginning in April.
- CARLI Report: Preservation Committee is sponsoring a Collections Care Workshop at Milner Library at ISU on April 10. Spring Forum, an event sponsored jointly between Collection Management and Technical Services Committees, will be held on April 28. Instruction Committee webinar, Librarian Transformation: Teaching Disciplinary Courses, will be held on March 9.
- Denise talked briefly to the group about the annual project, which is due in May.
Decisions
- Minutes from December meeting were approved after changing Anne Craig’s role as guest.
- Group will use MakerSpaces area of CARLI webpage to record information on MakerSpaces and Open Houses
Tasks Assigned
- Sue agreed to take minutes.
- Julia will make final arrangements with Chicago Public Library regarding lunch and record these details on the open house planning document.
- Richard will make final arrangement with UIUC regarding schedule for open house. He will record these details on the open house planning document on the CARLI webpage.
- Sue and Cory will make final arrangements with Winnetka-Northfield and Northwestern regarding schedules, travel and lunch. They will record these details on Open House Planning document.
Discussion
- Open Houses:
- Julia discussed the Chicago open house to be held at Chicago Public Library (am) and the Illinois Institute of Technology (pm).
- Richard discussed final schedule and arrangements for UIUC Open House, including parking, transportation, lunch, two locations (MakerLab in Business School and FabLab), as well as maximum number of people (24).
- Sue and Cory discussed the arrangements for the suburban open house, including start time for Winnetka-Northfield Public Library, lunch arrangements, scheduling, and transportation between the Winnetka and Northwestern University.
- Productivity Tools Video Project:
- Sue told the group that two presenters from the spring 2016 open houses have agreed to create videos for the toolkit project – Jennifer Sharkey, Illinois State University, and our own Colleen Shaw, Heartland Community College.
- Sue will follow up with the other presenters personally to double-check interest level.
