Tasks Assigned
- Minutes taken by Shelby Strommer.
- Elizabeth will alphabetize vendors in webliography.
- Brad and Heidi will submit 2-3 sentence proposals to Elizabeth and Nicole for consideration in the AI symposium.
- Shelby will send out a Doodle poll for those interested in working on the survey draft.
Decisions
- Committee will keep the November 15 meeting as scheduled. Bonnie will lead, and Shelby will be absent.
- Elizabeth will alphabetize vendors under Supply Vendors section of Preservation Resources Webliography.
- “Ask a Preservation Expert” Fall Session
- Session will be held on November 6, 2024 at 1:00 – 2:00 p.m.
- Shelby, Gabriel, Liz, Stephanie, and Patti are available to attend.
- Shelby will create a folder in Box where the committee can share links we’d like to have handy for the Ask an Expert session.
- The session will be recorded and posted to the website. Committee members will need to sign a release for CARLI to record.
- For the Public Services Committee’s proposed AI symposium, Brad and Heidi will send Elizabeth and Nicole short program descriptions by the end of day Monday.
- Brad will write a brief suggestion, then reach out to INTERPARES if they are interested in presenting.
- Heidi will write a brief suggestion regarding copyright and IA to submit to the committee, then reach out to possible presenters.
- Preservation Survey
- Shelby, Heidi, Patti, and Stephanie will collaborate on a draft of the survey questions.
- Launch February 3, with a deadline for members to complete by March 3.
- Questions by December meeting for group to review. Shelby will help Nicole and Elizabeth with Webtools. Review and test by January meeting, launch end of the month.

- Member Announcements:
- Stephanie Gowler (Northwestern University): Dissident Sisters exhibit is now available through December 1, 2024. Dissident Sisters: Bev Grant and Feminist Activism, 1968–72: Block Museum - Northwestern University
- Bonnie Parr (Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum): There will be an upcoming exhibit Freedom in Form: Richard Hunt that starts October 25.
- Diane Fagen (Rockford University): The History of Women in Baseball traveling exhibit is now available; also, four displays about University History for homecoming events.
- Heidi Marshall (Columbia College Chicago): On Thursday, October 24, 6:30pm, to go along Chicago Anti-Apartheid movement collection exhibit, there will be a discussion with activists and students.
- CARLI Announcements:
- NC Live consortium reaching out for advice on how to help their members who were hit hardest by Hurricane Helene. CARLI shared disaster planning and response resources compiled by the Preservation Committee
- CARLI Annual Meeting Tuesday, October 22, 10am-3pm, Champaign, both in-person and hybrid. Preservation Committee will host one of the Table Talk sessions.
Discussion
- Waiting for Digital POWRR to respond regarding rescheduling the summer webinar.
- Waiting on an update from IFSI to reschedule burn workshop.
- Public Services Committee is interested in holding an AI Symposium in the spring and put a call out for those committees that are interested for 45 minute programs. Suggestion to reach out to INTERPARES or reach out to a copyright expert regarding copyright in AI.
- If not for the Symposium, the Preservation Committee could discuss planning a program.
- Create a subcommittee for the Preservation Survey – Shelby, Heidi, Patti, Stephanie.
