Announcements

  • Member Announcements:
    • Jade Kastel (Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum): The traveling exhibit from Smithsonian is up at ALPLM.
  • CARLI Announcements:
    • Three people have volunteered for the Preservation Committee and will be getting invitations to join. Names will be shared once they accept invitations.
    • Summer webinar series “Funding to Preservation: A Digital Content Life Cycle Webinar Series” begins in June.

Discussion

  • Preservation Tip:
    • Disaster Planning 101: Series Recap from Shelby is  ready to go for May 24 newsletter.
  • Preservation Webliography: No updates on link checking.
  • Preservation Committee Annual Report:
    • Shelby has written a draft.
    • Overview of accomplishments including in-person and online presence at CARLI Annual Meeting, two webinars, and plans for future.
    • Submitted by end of May, so Board can review at their June meeting.
  • Planning for more continuing education programs
    • CARLI shared that the IFSI Program was approved for next fiscal year; haven’t heard back from IFSI contact yet about future dates.
    • Committee possibly focus on more virtual programs. They have no cost for attendees and are easier for people to attend.
    • Digital POWRR workshop this summer.
    • Preparing for large-scale move or renovation project – hold this idea for next committee year.
  • Newberry tour still on the books for week of SAA meeting.
    • Open to all CARLI members attending SAA.
    • Gabriel will pick a day and time that works for the Newberry Library and write brief description before the next committee meeting.
    • Nicole noted that CARLI will help with registration.
  • Preservation Survey
    • 2015 documents and Bonnie’s revamped questionnaire are in Box.
    • Shelby: Plan to do next year and let upcoming committee shape.
    • Brainstorming document are in Box.
      • In past, goal was to assess needs of member libraries and guide PC in programming/outreach.
        • New question: What kinds of programming does your institution need?  Does your institution have funding for professional development?
      • Add new goal: Identify level of staffing/training for preservation staff.
      • Could survey be used to gauge awareness of Preservation Committee resources?
      • Can we get more data on engagement with webinars and website?
      • Suggestion for live webinar session for feedback/talk about preservation interests and needs.
      • Maybe an “office hours”-type event?
  • For June agenda:
    • Select new chair
    • IFSI program updates, if any
    • Revisit survey
