Announcements

• Committee Member Announcements:
  • Melina (University of Chicago): Opening has been going well- 100 capacity, still being cautious
  • Nora (DePaul University): Students can come in and book a seat, stacks roped up
  • Mary (Northern Illinois University): Cap on how many people can come in the library, limited hours
  • Susan (Southern Illinois University Carbondale): Café, part of the library that is open with a book truck
• CARLI Announcements:
  • CARLI staff wrote a grant for an open textbook pilot: 2 million to develop OER textbooks for a 3-year grant period, and the narrative was 60 pages (!). It is currently in final review and submission.
  • Annual meeting is virtual and this Friday, 11/13.

  • Current draft is within the Committee's Box folder and includes questions for review
    • Response draft due to the CARLI Board by December 1, 2020.
    • Final version due to the CARLI Board by March 1, 2021.
• Annual Project
  • Will submitted his interview, and provided email and release form available in Box, interviewed two people and selected the appropriate questions for each.
  • Nora has text to share with Elizabeth and Nicole today or tomorrow, interviewed their digital archivist. Her interview took place via email.
  • Institution List:
    • Tonia- Newberry
    • Melina- Chicago History Museum
    • Mary- Interview people who were involved with handling the pandemic, Northern Medium sized public academic institution
    • Susan- similar to Mary, no conservationist or preservation department
    • Meghan- private, smaller institution

• Future Webinar considerations and ideas
  • Preservation tasks associated with accepting gifts (idea from previous year) webinar- as of right now seems like this one is most doable, Nicole reached out to CARLI staff- No programming in series for March April and May, or June for possible webinar dates. Tonia suggestion no later than the first two weeks of May or anything before.
  • Next steps for setting this up- identify a date, title description, (Tuesdays at 10 am have been a good time in the past). Logistic should be sorted out by February.
  • We can set up a draft of a description in Box
• Volunteers for Checking Preservation Links
  • Add the date to the Box note when your section is completed.
  • Email any questions or additions/edits to the group.
  • Minor URL changes can be sent to Elizabeth and Nicole.
  • Rob found three links- all new links should be sent to Elizabeth and Nicole to update

Decisions

• Minutes of the October meeting were approved.
• For the next meeting, the group will think more on what a webinar on preservation tasks related to gifts may entail.
• The meeting was adjourned at 11:10 a.m.
