Decisions
- Approve September minutes by common consent.
- Committee will hold Office Hours in November and December:
- Tuesday, November 16th, 1:00pm (Publisher Response to OER: Openwashing)
- Tuesday, December 14th, 1:00pm (Engaging Faculty through a Community of Practice)
- Committee approved the proposal to request that the CARLI Program Planning Committee support up to 5 librarians attend the Open Education Network Certificate in OER Librarianship.
Tasks Assigned
- Minutes taken by Catherine Galarza-Espino.
- People interested in investigating whether OER program funding is feasible for the committee to pursue as a continuing education, send an email to Dan and Chris.
- CARLI staff will forward to the Program Planning Committee the proposal to support CARLI members participation in the OEN Certificate in OER Librarianship.
- CARLI staff will contact OER Commons staff about Open Author training in December.

- Member Announcements:
- Chris Sweet (Illinois Wesleyan University): During Open Access Week, the faculty that received OER Exploratory grants we be on a Panel.
- Kim Hale (Columbia College Chicago): She is attending the Open Education conference this week and will be creating a list of links to share with the committee.
- CARLI Announcements:
- Nicole Swanson: Will Cross will be giving an Open Pedagogy series for CARLI members on March 8th & 15. Several committee members have already registered.
- NC Live and BLC will have OER programming during Open Education Week in March including a panel of librarians from North Carolina; BLC will have a panel of faculty

- CARLI OER Course: Understanding and Promoting Open Educational Resources and CARLI OER Faculty Workshops:
- Committee reviewed volunteers for the sessions; 13 people have volunteered.
- December – have dates and time; those will be announced in the newsletter
- February & May: Times still to be determine based on instructor availability.

- PDA panel focused on OER initiatives across multiple states:
- Michele was introduced at a meeting with NC Live and BLC
- At some point CARLI will do a program on Illinois’ grant and initiative
- Grant Programming:
- Committee discussed having programming To help people find funding in various places
- The committee might possibly offer as an education/ professional development piece.
- Before the next meeting maybe get a few people together to investigate whether this is feasible for the committee to pursue

- Illinois SCOERs Grant:
- Revised timeline: Call for work and application will be sent out within the next two months (December). In the originally timeline the call for applications was set for one month after receiving the grant which would have translated to October.
- Original timeline included two rounds of grant proposals. The final looks to be one round of grant proposals. This will allow institutions to have more time to write the grant proposal and the OER and will for more time to gather data (specifically data that shows the financial and student learning impacts of OER use).
- Staff plan to give webinars about the application process.
- Announcement to be made at CARLI Annual Meeting.
- OEN Certificate in OER Librarianship:
- CARLI has been supportive of participation in the certificate.
- Cost of program has increased.
- Currently asking for 5 people to be funded at this time.
- Committee voted regarding moving forward with a proposal from the OER committee to the CARLI Program Planning Committee for continued support of participation in the OEN certificate.
- Unanimous vote to send proposal to CARLI Program Planning Committee.
- Open Illinois – OER Commons Hub Update:
- Training planned for, Wednesday, October 27th, 2p-3p, open to anyone who wants to learn more about the Hub.

- What can be found on the Open Illinois Hub?
- What does the back end look like to make edits?
- If members want to have an institutional presence on the site, they’ll need to complete on online form. Information on the form will be covered.

- Committee members were interested in Using Open Author Tool Training possibly in December.
- Possibly using the Hub for a space for working groups for institutions working on CARLI grants; notification settings available to be made aware of new discussions

- Committee Update at CARLI Annual meeting:
- A PowerPoint and audio will be created for a pre-recorded session.
- Funding for Statewide adoption grants:
- Chris Sweet – Is it possible to get state funding for adopting OER? Needs to be large scale.
- There are limits in which to what CARLI staff can be involved in advocacy.
