- Other Ideas:
- Power users’ success stories
- Including folks who maybe had some struggles at the beginning of their journey, so that 'cause I think one of the the issues we often have and I don't know about other folks on on your campuses
- Thinking back to when you started your OER effots, besides the kind of materials that we already kind of, you know, curate and put on the CARLI website, are there any other kind of resources that you felt would have been useful for you to have and that might benefit other people in relation to OER?
- We hear questions occasionally, companies that provide ancillaries? Are any of your campuses using those and could speak to their use?
- MyOpenMath - Like course questions and things like that that are already on there. And how do you maybe adapt or what are the tools to kind of train yourself on my open math?
- LibreText Homework System – if anyone who has access to this system and could speak to that, maybe there might be interest in that too?

- Open Illinois: OER Commons Hub
- Michele, Nicole, and Elizabeth are reviewing this and will bring it back to the committee if needed for discussion.
- FY25 Activities
- Illinois OER Summit, April 7, 2025, Illinois State University Alumni Center
- The summit committee group met, and they were finalizing the contract. That was the last piece to make certain that we had the space under contract before it could be announced.
- Looking to the CARLI OER Committee as a natural partner or support for this summit. What can we help with?
- One thought: The CARLI OER committee membership could volunteer to be experts on table talks.
- A vision for OER at the state level!
- Try to get as many different people from as many different institutions large, small together, determine commons strengths and challenges among the membership.
- Possibly create and send a survey to gather ideas about what attendees might want or need from this summit.
- Round table discussion idea: coordinate a message to the state legislators to have a more structured OER & textbook affordability program, like Texas, et al.
- Promote this through our various channels and networking
- Statewide collaboration and a way to help us work together to support each other so that all of us can do better in this work.
- Build on the efforts of the 2017 summit that took place at the College of DuPage
- Provide support for people who have nothing on their campus or not a very big initiative and are looking for ways to get back on track with OER.
- Institutions can send up to three people as a team to the summit – a librarian, a faculty member, and maybe an instructional designer
- A person from the Midwest Higher Education Compact is planning to speak about the state of OER in the country, Midwest and the state of Illinois.
- National Coordination on Open Education: A Community Conversation Series
- Information on these sessions were sent to the committee – registrations completed, with members planning to attend when these are held.
- New Business
- What do you really want to work on this year? Anything that you wish you had to support your work this year? Thoughts/ideas?
- We will create a document for ideas.
- One idea is a need for savings tracking for OER.
- Possible webpage to highlight this successful work of some institutions
- DFW rates, persistence, degree completion, etc.
- ROI per program and department – shared back to help moral boosting and rewarding faculty for their hard work!
- Possible Illinois State Dashboard for OER
- Possible CARLI Counts project – form a team!
