Decisions

• Approved May 9th meeting minutes.

Tasks Assigned

• Minutes taken by Dorinne Banks.
• Shelly McDavid is interested in working with Dee Anna Phares to review Open Pedagogy Workshop curriculum.
• At the next meeting, Elizabeth will lead a discussion around the new designation, “Reviewers,” for resources added to the Open Illinois OER Commons Hub. Committee members encouraged to consider how we want OER vetted before adding them to the Open Illinois Hub.
• CARLI will email committee members to ask for volunteers to chair or co-chair OER Committee.
• CARLI will set up initial meeting of FY25 OER committee in July/August.

Announcements

• Member Announcements: none
• CARLI Announcements:
  • The $3 million appropriation for OER Grant Funding was not in the state’s FY25 budget.
  • Ebooks can be used for course materials, and CARLI secured new contracts with ebook publishers Wiley, Oxford, and University of Illinois Press/JSTOR for consortial ebook access.
  • CARLI plans to ask for a one-year extension for its Illinois SCOERs grant.
  • Illinois State Library OER Grant letters have been sent out and CARLI will meet with awardees.
  • Workshops are being scheduled for summer and fall on these topics: Project Director Role, Instructional Design, Accessibility of OER materials, Creative Commons & Copyright; DEI Reflected in Course Materials, and LibreTexts platform.

Discussion

• OEN Engage Watch Party – committee members encouraged to attend OEN Engage workshops and later discuss implications for CARLI workshops (e.g. open pedagogy).
• Committee membership:
  • Need volunteers for FY25 committee chair or co-chairs.
  • Members rotating off the committee: Amber, Dan, Christina, Tineka, Kim.
