    • Upcoming Programs:

Discussion

  • Continuing Education
    • FY25 Continuing Education In-Person Programs
      • CARLI would like information on programming funding needs for in-person events. Ideas that were mentioned include: bringing together ISL grant awardees to discuss their projects and network, the ACRL OER Roadshow (OER & Affordability),  a collaboration between the Midwest Higher Education Compact, Illinois Community College Board and IACRL for a one or half-day in-person collaborative and information /fact gathering related to OER activities in the state.
    • CARLI OER Course: Understanding and Promoting Open Educational Resources
      • The May OER Course: Understanding and Promoting OER, is scheduled for Fridays, May 10, 17 and 24th. The course will be taught by Shelly McDaniel and Carrie Didion. The June session will be taught by Melanie Armstrong and Amy Pinc held on Mondays, June 10, 17, and 24th.
    • Open Pedagogy Workshop
      • Discussion on the faculty Open Pedagogy Workshop. Committee members lead the recent open pedagogy workshop and she shared that more registered than attended, but participating attendees provided valuable feedback; it is a work in progress. Program materials may need review, including more interactive activities as part of the workshop. Committee discussed that a separate and shorter workshop focused on DEIA (Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility) pedagogy and working on practical applications that can be used by attendees at their institutions. Elizabeth mentioned that there will be upcoming training sessions for the SOS/ISL Grant Recipients will include one that has been mentioned often is a training session for project directors and another for to incorporate DEIA for open resources as part pf their development. At the recent Open Pedagogy Workshop’s breakout rooms, there was a lot of excitement over ideas of bringing open pedagogy into their courses and making it more student driven.
    • OER Community Chats
      • Dee Anna led the April Community Chat which focused on Open Pedagogy for DEI. Kim will lead the May session called “Lessons Learned” which will focus on what we have learned in our experiences with the Illinois SCOERs grant. Discussion began on the number of community chats held over the year; to reach more CARLI members outside of the OER committee – perhaps hold less often – suggested two each fall and spring. Seems we may compete against ourselves with the amount of programming we schedule. We need to review the frequency of the community chats.
