- January minutes were approved.
- Capping registration for April Open Pedagogy Workshop to 16 with the recording to distribute if sufficient interest.

Tasks Assigned
- Christina Norton took minutes.
- Elizabeth Clarage will investigate whether Adler’s Vancouver campus faculty can write reviews for OTL after attending OER Workshop.
- Dan Matthews will identify a topic for the May OER Office Hours.
- Kim Hale volunteers to review Illinois Higher Education page on the CARLI OER page.
- Dan Matthews, Tineka Scalzo, and CARLI staff meet to discuss 3rd party ancillary merchants.
Announcements
- The IACRL OER Campus Kickstart Awards have been announced by ILA. These are $500 awards to help launch OER at campuses with no or little OER presence.
- Member Announcements:
- Dorinne Banks (Adler University): She is giving presentations at upcoming outreach opportunities to faculty at different campuses at Adler; can Vancouver faculty attend CARLI OER Workshops and write reviews? Elizabeth Clarage will investigate.
- Tineka Scalzo (City Colleges of Chicago): She is continuing to give OER Workshops to faculty. A campus colleague secured an earmark for $500k for an OER project to rework their English course sequence to include social justice themes in the curriculum.
- Dan Matthews (Moraine Valley Community College): Their campus Affordable Course Materials Committee is discussing a “reignition” semester re: OER, with potential guest speakers from outside of their institution to speak or give a presentation to their committee.
- CARLI Announcements:
- Highlighted an upcoming Professional Development Alliance program from Florida, a 3-day OER Bootcamp/
- Mentioned the upcoming OER Conferences and Summit from Arizona and Missouri with well know OER speakers including Robin DeRosa as a keynote for the Missouri conference.
- The Midwest Higher Education Compact (MHEC) will be planning a Midwest OER Summit next year. Michele will keep us posted.

- OER Course: Understanding and Promoting OER
- May dates decided but still to be publicized.
- OER Faculty Workshop
- Upcoming session on February 23 has 17 registered.
- Question: Are there any scheduled in March? No; scheduled before March with common textbook decision deadlines and spring breaks in mind.
- OER Office Hours
- April minute taker still needed.
- Topic/host needed for May. Dan volunteered to identify a topic. He’s ok if someone would like to lead that discussion.
- Extra marketing push planned for March OER Office Hours to increase registrations as there are currently 3.–Faculty and other non-librarians welcome.
- Open Education Week
- Michele Leigh: There will be an official announcement of Illinois SCOERs events forthcoming.
- Nicole Swanson: Nicole Allen and Katie Steen-James from SPARC have confirmed for a March 8 program on differences between OER and publisher models.
- Chris Sweet: Will re-send call for member OER success stories. He identified many last year via our committee minutes.
- Dan Matthews: He needs to determine date for faculty panel. Kim and Lauren will send him faculty contact information. He will create a Padlet and share link for the soon to be created CARLI Open Education Week webpage.
- Website Review
- The target completion date is February 7.
- Website review mostly complete with many notes and additions; IBHE info page still needs review. Kim Hale volunteered.
- Student Survey
- CARLI staff are still waiting to hear from IRB.
- Open Pedagogy
- Event for 8 NIU faculty happening in March. February 23 meeting scheduled for subcommittee; another workshop planned for CARLI faculty in April.
- The committee discussed registration size for April event to maintain “workshoppy” feel? The committee decided on 16 total registration, and that breakouts during the live session would have 3-4 per group.
- The session will be recorded and shared if there is sufficient interest.
- CARLI Support for the OEN Certificate in OER Librarianship.
- Registration has been sent out by OEN.
- Reimbursements being disbursed by CARLI.
- CARLI Support for Creative Commons Certificate Program
- To date, seven applicants asking for reimbursement.
- DOE Open Pilot Grant: Illinois SCOERs: Support for the Creation of Open Educational Resources
- Round 2 Announcement & progress
- Instructional design, accessibility, and copyright workshops are scheduled. 3D Printing workshop to follow delivery of printers.
- One of the texts is done!! Arranging for peer review.
- Round One recipients will be presenting their work for Open Education Week.
- Funded projects need to turn in invoices in order to request/receive additional funding in Round 3.
- Round 3 of funding is available.
- Answering lots of questions; some groups are asking for additional funds.
- The deadline for proposals is February 28th.
- The committee revisited item from December re: 3rd party companies that provide ancillaries.
- The committee formed a subcommittee for further discussion? Potential timeline?
- Volunteers: Tineka, Dan, CARLI staff; 30-minute meeting schedule by the end of February to discuss next steps.
