Instruction Committee Meeting: June 30, 2014

Decisions:

• Minutes from the May 30, 2014 meeting were approved.

Announcements:

• CARLI announcements – Lorna and Debbie
  • CARLI staff attended ALA Annual Conference.  I-Share Next is still years away.

Tasks assigned:

• The committee completed all tasks for the year, including the Annual Report, Assessment Project Report, and planned activities.

Discussions:

• Instruction Showcase was held Wednesday, June 18, Illinois Valley Community College
  • Evaluation results were emailed to the committee by Lorna.  Very positive.  The program schedule allowed attendees to see all sessions, which was an improvement from last year.
  • Ideas for next year:
    • Either restructure or rename the panel session, and maybe devote a little more time to that on the agenda
    • Assign one person from committee for each session as the go-to person for presenters.
  • Site location and building worked well.  Technology setup in the main room didn’t work as well for the panel session.
• Lorna asked the committee to be thinking about activities for next year to discuss at the July meeting, especially about whether or not to hold a fall event or webinar.
• 2014-15 committee co-chairs
  • Committee confirmed co-chairs will be Michelle Guittar and Frances Whaley.
• Committee thanked outgoing members Susan, Kirstin, and Elizabeth.
