Decisions:

  • Minutes of the September 27, 2013, meeting were approved prior to the meeting.
  • The Instruction Team decided:
    • not to participate in the Collection Management Committee’s e-book PDA forum.
    • to participate in the IACRL assessment pre-conference if the committee was allowed sufficient time to host a program (1-2 hours)
    • to assign moderators to the second and third webinars (see Tasks assigned)
  • The meeting was adjourned at 10:40am.

  • Lorna will contact:
    • Molly and/or Devin to finalize Nov. 4 webinar plans
    • Elizabeth Clarage to share the committee’s thoughts on the IACRL pre-conference
    • Debbie & CMC to share the committee’s thoughts on participating in the CMC’s e-book PDA forum in spring 2014
  • Susan will moderate the Nov. 18 webinar; Elizabeth will moderate the Dec. 10 webinar

    • Webinar #1
      • Waiting to hear from Devin Savage.
      • Due to time constraints, should we give him the option of pre-recording his talk and promote it by providing link to interested groups/individuals?  Questions related to Devin’s webinar could be shared on the Assessment listserv.
      • Seems to be the best option, for now.  Lorna will try to contact him to see if he would prefer a live webinar with questions or canned webinar with listserv discussion.
    • Webinars #2 and #3
      • Planning for live webinars with moderators to share questions with speaker
      • Lisa Hinchliffe is interested in a less formal webinar - more time to ask questions (rough format: 10 minutes of her topic followed by questions; repeat)
      • Moderators will be allowed to speak/share questions with speaker.  All other participants will be muted.
  • IACRL pre-conference
    • Still waiting for information about number of rooms, which impacts type/length of programming.
    • Lorna will contact Elizabeth Clarage about the Instruction Committee’s preference to hold a one to two hour pre-conference program.  If time and space restrictions determine that pre-conference programming will be shorter (30 minutes), the Instruction Committee will not participate.
  • Instruction forum - June 2014
    • Still waiting to hear from JJC’s facilities staff.  Lorna will let us know as soon as she hears anything.
  • Collection Management Committee e-book PDA forum
    • Late May or early June 2014 - close to Instruction Forum
    • Interest in collaboration/participation - not at this time; perhaps Instruction Committee could collaborate next year.
