Decisions

Discussion
- Denise Green’s draft web page (attached as a PDF to ERM Committee email)
- The web page addresses the intersection of Alma and OCLC Collection Manager, DataSync, WorldCat, and WorldShare/ILL. She is still working on the section about checking DataSync reports. Liz noted at Millikin they are trying to figure out why something isn’t working, and Liz finds the flowcharts helpful. This is useful support for the Streamline Holdings process that some CARLI libraries are starting to undertake. Robin noted she calls the product WorldShare Collection Manager to make it clear that it is OCLC’s Collection Manager. Denise will update the naming to reflect that.
- Display logic and Alma Network Zone project
- CARLI has gotten requests to manage some display logic settings at the Network level. Currently, for a NZ rule to overrule an IZ rule, the same collections have to be active in both. Ex Libris is working on improving this. An example is “Show only Academic Search Complete and not the other EBSCO databases if something is available in multiple places.” In addition, Denise suggests that the Open Access collections be rated for reliability so that only the most reliable ones display. Denise’s cat, Luna, provided valuable input. Liz noted that links that go directly to the article level should be prioritized over journal-level resources.
- Any discussion on new EBSCO interface from people with test links?
- Lisa noted that librarians at her institution were not pleased with the significant changes, especially because so many support/help documentation will need to be updated. Liz said her institution has just gotten the Linked Full Text settings working, and it’s now not showing in the new interface [Andrea checked their settings, and it does display as the “Access Now” button]. Andrea said the link resolver requires too many clicks, including a drop-down for a single option, sacrificing usability. Robin said it may be a screenreader problem, too. Andrea demonstrated how buried the new interface link is, making it difficult to go back and forth between the two interfaces. Denise said Harper College has already switched and reported a problem of being taken to a “search EBSCO” screen instead of directly to an available journal’s EBSCO page.
- It’s March…
- The annual report is due at the end of May. What should we be thinking about doing in the remainder of the year? We have not promised anything to other committees at this time. Marisa shared the link to the first meeting documentation, where we brainstormed ideas for this year. Robin mentioned the Springshare A-Z database list has to be migrated by July 1, with LibGuides pages to follow shortly. The institutions for all other members on the call have already made the migration. Liz asked whether this could be discussed in future Office Hours; Marisa said perhaps a Lab Reports offering, since it’s more of an integration with Alma/Primo VE.
