Announcements   

CARLI Updates

  • Calendar Year 2025 renewals have wrapped up
  • Sage Premier contract is still be negotiated
  • Documentation for ConsortiaManager is being created.
  • CARLI will be ramping up for the FY26 cycle as soon as the new year starts. There will be a lot of contracts to work on.
  • An announcement of the CARLI ebook program from FY26 was disseminated to members on Monday, December 2. January 15 is the deadline for member responses regarding their participation so that CARLI can negotiate with the publishers based on the funds that have been committed to the program.

  • There were no proposals to review.

Annual Project

  • CPC Annual Project Discussion: AI Symposium Collaboration - Next Steps
    • The committee discussed the response from EBSCO regarding their AI Insights tool and the possibility of having a vendor panel.
    • Other possible topics included contractual issues related to the use of user queries or session data for further AI training, vendor retention of user data or whether user data is anonymized at some point, copyright concerns
    • Symposium deadlines:
      • Event scheduled for Tuesday, April 15
      • Public Services Committee has set a January 17 deadline to submit a bio, session title, and description to the Public Services Committee so that they can publicize the program.

Decisions

  • Minutes of the November 18, 2024, meeting were approved as amended.
  • The committee decided to do a presentation at the AI symposium on the topic of policies around what we feed into AI systems and how that data is being used. Focus on policies, contracts, and agreements with vendors.
  • The meeting was adjourned at 10:51 a.m.

Tasks Assigned

  • Thane and Scott are willing to present at the AI symposium. Marie is willing to help with research involved in putting together a presentation, and Ann is willing to help with other preparations as needed. Michele (in absentia) indicated she is willing to participate as a presenter and/or help with the PowerPoint presentation.
  • Scott will share the presentation he has already given on the topic
  • Members will review Scott's presentation in advance of the next meeting to aid in refining the topic.
