The forum went well, presentations were well received and overall comments were positive. We received some requests for more hands on usage statistics training and the distance traveled was a bit far for some participants, but overall worthwhile for topics covered and networking opportunities.
Elizabeth provided a summary of the first meeting for the planning group. Potential topics and speakers are being discussed including a plan to have a variety of sessions for basic information and more advanced topics. Tom is our representative to the planning group. This program is tentatively planned for June or July and Elizabeth is investigating locations.
The preconference is scheduled for March 20, 2014 in Oak Brook. The groups participating include the Collection Management Committee, the Commercial Products Committee, the Created Content Committee, the Instruction Committee, the Public Services Committee, and the Technical Services Committee. The keynote speaker, Karen Schmidt (Illinois Wesleyan University), will talk about assessment in all forms at the library. By December 20, the group will need to know who the speakers are as well as a session title.
