- The information about the committee’s information on the State Databases was mailed to several email lists and shared locally by members.
- Feedback on the State Databases project:
- Very positive comments, people seem to find it useful
- Helpful in demonstrating to library administration the benefit of being part of CARLI
- Weeding webpage was discussed
- General discussion on how the project is progressing
- What kinds of information help during the deselection process?
- Think about the overall plan and what to request.
- What kinds of CARLI reports are available?
- Flowchart reintroduced as helpful way to navigate the process.
- Structuring by type or institution or goal could be beneficial but keeping guidance general and routine may be helpful to maintain universality and applicability.
- Benedictine is currently undertaking a weeding project - considering individual goals and the type of institution is important.
- Getting started section could include foundational resources and then progress to more local information
- Possible section breakdown: Getting Started, Local resources, What can CARLI do for you?
- Other comments:
- Consider complications that may arise or questions that may need to be answered.
- Sections should be discrete enough to allow readers to mentally cross things off their checklist.
- Proposal to gather data or documents from member institutions to see how goals and policies align or don’t. This could help in both creating general overview but also consider specific situations.
- Technical Services Committee documentation repository could serve as a useful model to collect weeding documents.
- Could investigate if people are willing to share their weeding policies or procedures.
- Possibility of borrowing the format of their submission structure.
- Language ideas for the CMC document submissions – goal is to create a weeding web page, sponsored by the CMC committee, disclosure that the documents may be shared on the website, institutions could opt to remain anonymous.
- Proposal to divide tasks by website section when we next meet to help make the tasks more manageable.
