Members attending: David Bell, co-chair (Eastern Illinois University), Daniel Blewett, co-chair (College of DuPage), Chad Buckley (Illinois State University), Keith Eiten (Wheaton College), Paolo Gujilde (Northwestern University), Lorene Kennard (University of St. Francis), Gretchen Schneider, (Oakton Community College), and Scott Thomson (Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science).

Decisions

• August minutes were accepted with some edits.
• CARLI requests that each committee present at the CARLI annual meeting. David volunteered.

Announcements

• CARLI Updates:
  • ALMA in person training coming soon throughout the state.
  • Nicole Ream-Sotomayor will be joining CARLI on Sept. 30 as the Senior Coordinator for Electronic Resources
  • Scholarly Communication web page - Scholarly communications page will be removed based on the advice of this committee.
• Member Announcements:
  • Lorene Kennard (University of St. Francis)
    • Donor project: Comfy furniture and Starbucks coffee machine to create a student commons.
  • Keith Eiten (Wheaton College)
    • Good progress on reclassifying circulating collections from Dewey to LC; Music collection is open, A-C is open. D-Z is still closed.
  • Paolo Gujilde (Northwestern University)
    • Northwestern is testing claiming in ALMA.
  • David Bell (Eastern Illinois University)
    • The Library has opened a new exhibit on the 1619 project.
  • Daniel Blewett, co-chair (College of DuPage)
    • Faculty voted to authorize a strike.
    • Hopefully hiring a cataloger, an electronic resources helper, and a adjunct reference librarian.

Tasks Assigned

• Lorene will take minutes.
• Gretchen will take minutes for the October meeting.
• Jen will setup the Zoom connection information and send to the committee for the October meeting.
• Elizabeth will follow-up about data sets.
• Elizabeth will poll project groups for times to meet and setup small conference calls for each.
• Continuing committee members will share past practices for identifying new open access ebook collections with the subgroup.

  • Alma Analytics (Gretchen, Paolo, and Chad) - No update.
  • Survey of print book purchases? (David and Lorene) - No update.
  • Streaming Videos and Data Sets (Elizabeth)
    • Streaming video info was sent to the committee. Data sets information is forthcoming.
  • Open Access eBooks (Continue to identify O.A. collections for inclusion in the I-Share catalog, but no implementation until ALMA is running smoothly. (Dan, David and Keith)
    • Discussion on how previous members identified collections.
    • This committee may want to make recommendation to CARLI how these collections may appear in Primo VE exploring what is available in Network Zone.
