CARLI Board Feedback on Re-envisioning Reports
- Summary of CARLI Chairs meeting on 1/12/21: All existing committees will continue.
- New Discovery Layercommittee/task force – There will be a call for volunteers for this group included in the call for committee members this year.
- Greer informed the group at Chairs meeting that CCC’s work also involves discovery. There needs to be coordination/communication with the new Discovery Group and CCC to avoid duplication of work.
- Unless the committees requested their charges be changed, there is no reason to send a final report on the Re-envisioning project to the Board in March. The December re-envisioning report will suffice.
Alma/Primo Repository Integration Project
Documentation Gap Analysis:
- What do we have now?
- Ex Libris documentation is not system specific.
- CARLI/Jessica Gibson documentation of CONTENTdm is system specific.
- What do we want?
- User stories/use cases that involve normalization rules, discovery import profiles (DIP), and how it comes together.
- Normalization rules – These could be guided by our own work.
- How do we get there?
Division of Work into 2 Parts:
- Discovery import profiles for external repositories
- CARLI/Jessica Gibson CONTENTdm documentation
- Sharing of other external repository profiles (Islandora, LibGuides, other IRs) created with rest of CARLI institutions
- Normalization rules
- User stories/use cases
- Re-harvesting of data after normalization rules created
- Rules depends on what is set up by import profile – rules are reusable for each profile
- Sharing of normalization rules created with rest of CARLI institutions
- To change display in Primo VE – example: breaking up subject strings in CONTENTdm
- Where to change settings for displays, normalization types to fit Primo VE values
- Instances where it may require data remediation, out of box mappings or create normalization rules or a combination, MODS vs. Dublin Core schema
Ex Libris User Tech Blog Network:
- Similar to forum, such as containing short messages that link out to github
- Possible place where we can share our work
