Decisions

• Minutes of the December 6, 2013 meeting were approved prior to the meeting.
• The Board approved the timeline for the 2014 Board of Directors election. Current Board members Brian Beecher (College of Lake County), Mary Case (University of Illinois at Chicago), and Scott Walter (DePaul University) will serve on the Nominating Committee, with CARLI staff coordinating the process.
• The Board approved the draft of the application for service on the I-Share Next Task Force.
• The meeting was adjourned at 1:50 p.m.

Announcements

• The call for nominations for the Board of Directors, and the call for volunteers for the CARLI committees will go out in late March.
• CARLI awaiting final membership decisions from several libraries affected by the changes to the membership criteria.
• Cathy Salika, Associate Director for CARLI Data Resources, retired on February 28. Cathy wrote the data dictionary for Voyager and was well known in the Voyager community for her extensive experience and for her willingness to share her knowledge with others. A plan for her replacement has not yet been approved.
• CARLI will host the IACRL Pre-conference in Oak Brook on March 20. Registration has reached the site capacity of 120 attendees. We are maintaining a waiting list.
• The deadline for the State Library Certification Process is March 31, 2013. All CARLI libraries are required to certify in order to be in compliance with CARLI membership criteria. Certification is quick, easy and very important.
• CARLI is now a member of Coalition for Network Information (CNI) and the National Information Standards Organization (NISO.)
• The New Library Directors development program will be held at the CARLI Office on March 14, April 25 and May 20, 2014. Seven library directors have registered to attend.
• Ten groups have submitted intent to apply letters for the CARLI Research Subsidy Award Program. Final application materials are due March 31.  
• CARLI has established a policy regarding pre-payment of invoices in order to ensure that we are in compliance with University of Illinois standards. Upon request, CARLI will issue a single invoice for prepayment of e-resources up to 60 days prior to the start of a subscription period.
• The implementation process for the eBook Patron Driven Acquisition Pilot Project is in progress. EBL has contacted eligible CARLI libraries to complete their authentication process.
• As of February 28, patrons from 75 I-Share libraries had requested a total of 1635 items through the CARLI Print Patron Driven Acquisition Project.
• The Illinois Board of Higher Education is no longer collecting the enrollment data that is used in gathering prices for the e-resources selection cycle.
• CARLI will issue a Request for Information in Spring/Summer 2014 for the I-Share Next project. The RFI will enable CARLI to communicate with vendors regarding library management systems.
• CARLI is awaiting the release of Voyager version 9 later this spring before making any final decision about a possible upgrade for I-Share.
• The Program Planning Committee approved the programs "Local Implementation of eBook PDA Projects" to be held on June 2 in Champaign, and "Library Security" to be held at June 16 at the College of DuPage.
• The Illinois State Library will hold the "On the Frontlines" conference August 4-6 at the University of Illinois at Springfield.
• Michelle Huls has been hired to support membership and communications functions. She will begin work on March 17.

Tasks Assigned

• CARLI staff will work with Board members Richard Darga (Chicago State University), Jane Treadwell (University of Illinois at Springfield), and Scott Walter (DePaul University) to score applications for the CARLI Research Subsidy Award Program.
• CARLI staff will work with Board members Patrick Dawson (Northern Illinois University), Dennis Krieb (Lewis & Clark Community College), and Felice Maciejewski (Dominican University) to review applications for the I-Share Next Task Force. The group will bring their recommendations to the June Board meeting.
