Join our team as the Director of Business Affairs and play a crucial role in managing the financial and administrative operations of the LIS. You'll be the go-to person for budget oversight, hiring processes, and all financial activities, while representing the Dean in various business and budgetary matters.
What You’ll Do:
- Budget Management: Supervise and execute the LIS budget, including state appropriations, local accounts, and grant funds. Track and monitor spending to ensure departments stay within their budgets.
- Fiscal Oversight: Act as the fiscal officer delegate, providing the Dean with updates on budget availability, routine analysis, and strategic financial insights. Develop and implement budget reduction scenarios as needed.
- Hiring & Contracts: Oversee the hiring process for faculty and staff, including initiating faculty and GA contracts, salary recommendations, and managing start-up and professional development funds for new faculty.
- Administrative Coordination: Serve as the primary point of contact for LIS Administration. Coordinate the GIR process, renovations, furniture acquisitions, office moves, and manage the Grad Assistant and Student Assistant budgets.
- Supervision: Supervise two Dean's office staff members. Develop and revise staff PDQs, perform annual evaluations, ensure timely and accurate processing of daily tasks, and manage workloads and coverage.
- Financial Activities: Prepare and approve purchase orders, handle fiscal activities related to travel and property control, and manage p-card purchases. Assist with Foundation-related financial activities, including reports.
- Reporting & Compliance: Liaise with the Provost's office for financial and budget-related reports and inquiries. Assist in gathering information for the Fact Book and other state and national surveys.
- Additional Duties: Provide support to the Director of Development with Foundation financial activities and perform other duties as assigned.

Typical Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- Master's degree in business administration, accounting, or a field related to the position, preferably in accounting or finance.
- Three (3) years of professional level accounting, managerial and/or business experience, one year of which was at an administrative level.
- Three (3) years of progressive experience and responsibility with a thorough understanding of business and financial operations (budgeting and accounting experience).
- Two (2) years of experience in higher education financial affairs and budgeting. Demonstrated ability of advanced, expert level knowledge in Microsoft Excel, including experience developing and working with financial forecasts and models. Strong management, organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills..
