Update CONTENTdm Project Client and Web Administration URLs

This information is relevant to anyone using the CONTENTdm Project Client or CONTENTdm Web Administration for collections in CARLI Digital Collections.

CARLI staff are making security updates to CARLI’s CONTENTdm server designed to better protect all usernames and passwords.  These changes require you to edit the server URL used by each project in the CONTENTdm Project Client and the website address for CONTENTdm Web Administration.  These are one-time changes that will need to be made any time before July 29, 2016.  Please make these adjustments as soon as possible to avoid any interruptions to your workflows.

Project Client:

Follow these step-by-step instructions for how to adjust the server URL in the Project Client software.

Note that this server URL change needs to be made to ALL of your projects in the Project Client.

Web Administration:

Library staff will also need to update their Internet browser bookmarks for CONTENTdm Web Administration to:
https://collections.carli.illinois.edu:8443/cgi-bin/admin/start.exe
Note that there are two changes to make to the URL string:
   1) the URL must start https (instead of http)
   2) the port number after the colon must change to 8443 (instead of 8080)

Both the current URLs (with http and port 8080) and the new URLs (with https and port 8443) will work simultaneously until July 29, 2016.  On July 29 at noon, access with http and port 8080 will be blocked to enhance system security.

The public URL for CARLI Digital Collections, http://collections.carli.illinois.edu, will not change.
