I'll get to the featured image eventually. But first: I never thought about it before, but someone has to choose a college's school colors! The inaugural issue of the Kishwaukee College yearbook documents this process. The colors green and gold selected that first year still represent the Kougars today. Student Rita Love designed the winning college crest.
The first Student Senate also had to grapple with a proposal to name the college's temporary buildings after soldiers killed in the Vietnam War. They decided against it, the logic being that a temporary building isn’t a "lasting memorial."
Nonetheless, the Veterans Club was one of the first two clubs on campus and participated in intramural sports. Their basketball team was beaten by Pork and His Beans in the first basketball I-M championship game. Yes, you read that right: Pork and His Beans. And for the football championship, the winners Team No. 2 defeated the Has Beens, with only six men against the previously undefeated Has Beens' seven for the entire game! And now as promised we get to the featured image: the two winning teams displaying their trophies.
