This collection contains digital images of the yearbooks of Saint Xavier College spanning the years 1943-1988. Saint Xavier's evolution and the many changes accompanying the move from its old location at 49th Street and Cottage Grove Avenue to a new, expansive campus on 103rd Street and Central Park Avenue in 1956 are documented.
1957's Camera on the Campus focused on images of the Campus itself, including this cover shot of the main entrance. In all volumes student activities are emphasized, including academics, community service, Sodality Council, Student Association, retreats at Sunset Point, and formal dances such as Autumn Nocturne and Christmas Cotillion. Also recorded are perennial events such as Children's Christmas Party, Mary's Day, Torch and Rose Ceremony, and commencements. Faculty and staff are represented, especially the Sisters of Mercy of the Chicago Province, administrators of the college.
