Since its founding in 1983, Gallery 400, a not-for-profit arts exhibition space at the University of Illinois at Chicago, has presented exhibitions and programs that address a broad range of recent developments and aesthetic concerns and have included more than 1,000 artists to date.
“On & Off” is from a series of 14 images documenting the Berlin-based artist Kerstin Honeit’s “Ambiguity Is My Weapon,” a series of photographs and video pieces exploring “identity formation through the visible markers of familial legacy and gender construction.” “Ambiguity” exhibited at the Gallery 400 from January 18, 2011 to March 12, 2011. “On & Off,” an 11 min. video shown on a flat screen monitor inside of a small wooden cube, is shown in three images in the “Gallery 400 Collection,” along with other images documenting both the exhibit space and some of the still used in the piece. For more information about “Ambiguity Is My Weapon” please visit the Gallery 400 website or Kerstin Honeit’s website.
