Instruction Committee Meeting: May 30, 2014- DRAFT

Decisions:

  • Minutes from the May 2, 2014 meeting were approved via e-mail prior to the meeting.

Announcements:

CARLI announcements – Lorna and Debbie

  • CARLI’s longtime secretary, who sets up events, activities, and forums, has retired. CARLI will be transitioning to a new person, and patience is appreciated.
  • ShelfLister3 is now available. ShelfLister2 continues to be available as well.
  • Patron Driven Acquisitions (PDA) program: There have been no purchases yet, but multiple viewings of items.
    • When the appropriate number of viewings (7-9) have taken place the title will be purchased.
    • These items will appear in the I-Share catalog as being owned by CARLI.
    • This is a pilot project and if it is deemed successful it may be funded consortially. The project will run one year or until funds run out.

Tasks assigned:

  • Completion of Annual Report and Assessment Project Report
    • The committee completed both of these items prior to the meeting, in time for submission.

Discussions:

  • CARLI Annual Report & Assessment Project Report, review and comments – All
    • The Annual Report and Assessment Project Report (White Paper for the CARLI Board) have been completed.
    • Elizabeth will send these out for a final opportunity for comments after which Debbie and Lorna will submit them.
  • Instruction Showcase forum planning: Wednesday, June 18, Illinois Valley Community College
    • Final details that need to be completed prior to the Showcase were discussed.
    • Frances Whaley shared more detail about IVCC and the space.  The Committee acknowledged its appreciation for Frances’ work on making this happen.
    • There are currently 56 people registered.
    • Parking information and passes will be sent out prior.
    • Elizabeth will contact the JJC presenters to verify their participation. All other presenters have confirmed their participation.
    • Susan will provide the morning introduction and Frances will share logistical information with attendees.
    • Aimee volunteered to moderate the panel.
    • Committee members will moderate the time in the individual breakout sessions.
  • Next year committee chairs: thoughts from Elizabeth and Susan
    • Discussion about a chair for next year began and a chair will be determined at the June meeting.
    • Elizabeth and Susan discussed the benefits to co-chairs.
